Mr. Matteo Perper graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Stanford University with a Bachelor of Arts in Italian Philosophy and Literature, and a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry. He proceeded to earn his Master’s Degree from Stanford in Modern Thought and Literature. While at Stanford, Mr. Perper worked as a research assistant to Professor Robert Harrison, a scholar of Dante, and conducted research in the Banik Lab into new ways of visualizing cellular biomolecules. He also spent a term studying abroad at Oxford University. 

Before joining Chesterton Academy, Mr. Perper taught chemistry and coached tennis and squash at The Taft School and worked in Maine as a teaching fellow and counselor at Kieve Wavus Education. He is especially interested in the history of science, classical literature, Catholic education, and the great encyclopedic works of literature that reflect the ordered fullness of God’s creation. For leisure, Mr. Perper enjoys tennis, soccer, hiking, reading, and studying Gregorian chant, which he began learning this past year.
